Creating New Preset from Scratch in Impression 2 (or Studio Impression)

I’m sure I’m missing something very basic, but I have an image and want to create a New Preset from scratch, i.e., not based on an existing preset. I can’t seem to figure out how to do this and if I begin with an existing Preset I can reset every parameter to create a new “blank” preset.

You have to be in the editing menu (first heading with label “STROKE”), then after you have the setting just where you want them, click on the save plus sign in the upper right. This brings up the attached dialogue box where you enter name, description, etc. See screenshot. This in in Impression2 opened withing Lightroom. I have no idea how to do it in Studio.

I guess you are talking about Topaz Studio? After modifying an existing preset or creating a new one click on the save effect button and fill in details relevant to you. Remember that answering No to the Public question means that it will be only reserved for you:
