Have you tried experimenting with different colors and brightnesses for the vignette? Maybe something derived from the color palette of the image, or a complimentary color. I like the vignette and at the same time feel it’s brightness draws attention away from the wonderful subtle colors of the subject.

Thank you for your constructive comment. Yes, I agree about the vignette - especially with the hard flat edges of the photo.I rarely add any kind of frame, so no idea what came over me! 
I may revisit it sometime.
