This is a rendering of an image of the Hokulea, a traditional Polynesian voyaging canoe, as it returned home from it’s historic circumnavigation navigating only by the stars, wind, ocean swells - with a crew of 12.
The trip, over a three year period, and some 40,000 nautical miles, is know as the Malama Honua voyage or “to care for our Island Earth”.
The story of the Hokulea is worth knowing about. (Hōkūleʻa — The Story of Hōkūleʻa - Hōkūleʻa)
