After watching the movie Queen I spent some time thinking about Freddie Mercury’s idea of integrating opera into rock and roll and how this concept might apply to my art. Following several false starts I settled on teasing out color, form and texture from nature and layering it into something abstract, something bold. The original image for this rendering was the foliage of a date palm in Lisbon Spain taken during an open air bus tour of the city.
