I downloaded and updated a couple days ago and have tried the new version out a few times. I hadn't read here that I should uninstall first. I assumed part of the test was whether updating worked, and here it did. I didn't have any investment in presets, since this is beta, so that hasn't been an issue.
I like this interface better than the last versions. I think it will work well on a laptop (I'm on my desktop for this) due to the way we can close the side panels and still have access on hover for the icon strips in order to edit. I'm glad to have that edit circle gone from the thumbnail previews. I know it was an easy way to get into the edit panels in Impression and TE, but I have to be careful not to click it when I'm just previewing, and I prefer the way this works.
I would like it better if we also had the option to view larger thumbnails in their own window, the way we can with ReStyle, for instance. (Or I'm missing something here and we really can.) Either that or bring back the ability to drag the preview window wider and see more thumbs. The list view helps when the list is long, but not as much as a big window of previews could. But that's minor.
It's so far quick, easy to figure out, easy to recognize what icons are for, and hasn't crashed yet, and apart from the first launch, I'm running it from PS itself, which I'd think was more likely to be unstable than the standalone. So this far, this good.
