While I missed the Harvest Moon, the full moon nearest the autumnal equinox, I was able to catch the Kulu Moon with a surrounding halo. Kulu, the first moon following the four Hawaiian full moons, Hua, Akua, Hoku and Mahealani, was considered a time to give gifts of the first harvests to the Gods and Goddesses. Kulu could also mean to drop or pass time and fishing was also considered good during this night.
